Terms of use
Draft · Last updated October 23, 2026 · Florence Care Inc.
These terms cover the Wave iPhone app and this website, made by Florence Care Inc. (“we”). By using Wave you agree to them and to our privacy policy. You must be at least 13 to use Wave.
Use your own judgment
Wave shows accessibility information contributed by people like you, plus city and community records marked “Not checked by Wave”. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date: an entrance, ramp, elevator or sidewalk may have changed since the photo. Always check for yourself, and don’t rely on Wave for your safety. Wave is not for emergencies.
Hills and step-free routes
Hill colors and step-free routes are estimates from map and elevation data and from Wave reports. Step-free routes are a beta for invited testers. A route may include slopes, curbs, closures or obstacles that Wave doesn’t know about, and it is not a promise that a path is passable or safe for you. Follow posted signs and your own judgment, and stop or turn around whenever a path doesn’t look right.
Your account
Wave creates an anonymous account the first time you open the app; you can sign in with Apple to keep your posts on a new phone. Keep your handle respectful. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → menu → Settings.
Your posts
- Only post photos you took and have the right to share, of places and paths as they really are.
- No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, spam, or photos or notes that identify people (avoid faces and license plates). Notes are about access, nothing else.
- You keep ownership of your posts. You give Florence Care Inc. a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to store, show, resize and share them in Wave, and to use them to improve accessibility information, for as long as they stay on Wave. Deleting a post ends showing and sharing it; as our privacy policy explains, we keep a hidden copy of its record (and its photo for about 3 days) until your account is deleted, which ends this permission entirely.
Moderation and blocking
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Photos are checked automatically before they appear, and notes and handles are filtered for offensive words. Anyone can flag a post with “Report a problem”; a post flagged by several trusted members is hidden until we review it. We aim to review flags and held photos within 24 hours, and we may remove posts and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms. You can block anyone from a report or the leaderboard: their posts disappear for you, and they aren’t told.
Copyright
If you think a post uses your photo or other work without permission, email info@florence.care with a link to the post, what work it copies, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized and that your notice is accurate. We remove posts that infringe and close the accounts of people who do it repeatedly.
Map data
Maps in the app and on this website are from Mapbox (© Mapbox, © OpenStreetMap contributors). Hill colors and routes are built from OpenStreetMap paths (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Places, city records and OpenStreetMap hints come from the sources listed on the About page, under their own licenses.
No warranty
Wave is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Florence Care Inc. isn’t liable for any harm or loss from using Wave or relying on its information, including routes and hill colors.
Changes
If we change these terms, we’ll update the date above and describe significant changes on this page.
