About Wave
The accessibility map that knows what’s true today.
Wave is a map of entrances and street barriers, from photos taken by people who were there: steps, ramps, missing curb cuts, blocked sidewalks. Neighbors confirm it’s still accurate, so the map stays fresh. Live in San Francisco. Florence Care Inc.
Where the data comes from
- Wave reports: photos, tags and votes posted by Wave users.
- Places: names and locations from Overture Maps. Place data © Overture Maps Foundation contributors (CDLA Permissive 2.0).
- City records: curb ramps and 311 cases from DataSF (ODC PDDL), shown as “Not checked by Wave”. Neighborhoods: DataSF.
- OpenStreetMap hints: some places without a Wave photo show what OpenStreetMap volunteers have tagged about wheelchair access, marked “Not checked by Wave”. It’s never used as a Wave verdict, for filters or for routing.
